THE CONGREGATION OF MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA (CMT)

The Congregation of Mother Teresa of Calcutta (CMT) was founded in 2017 in Owerri, Nigeria, through the unwavering faith and vision of Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Anthony Ekendu Onyeocha, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri. Born from a deep desire to serve Christ in the poorest of the poor, the Congregation took root in the fertile soil of Owerri, inspired by the life and spirituality of Mother Teresa.

Bound to the teachings and authority of the Roman Catholic Church, CMT is dedicated to finding Christ in the suffering, the abandoned, and the marginalized. Under the fatherly guidance of our Founder, Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Ekendu Onyeocha, we carry within us the Cross of Charity, embracing a life of sacrificial love and humble service.

The Congregation has received invaluable support, mentorship, and episcopal guidance from His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Hilary Dachelem, CMF, our Principal Bishop, whose pastoral care continues to shepherd and strengthen our mission.

At the heart of CMT lies a profound spirituality symbolized by the three nails of the Crucifixion a sign of Christ’s total self-giving love. Our life is nourished daily by the Holy Eucharist, the source and summit of our faith. Our devotion to Our Lady, the Immaculata, remains a guiding light in our journey, leading us closer to her Son.

Through close imitation of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta, our Patroness, we strive to see and serve Christ in the poorest of the poor with compassion, humility, and unwavering dedication. Our charism is a harmonious blend of devotion, service, and sacrifice a call to simplicity of life, joyful surrender to God’s will, and tireless charity toward all.

The Congregation of Mother Teresa of Calcutta is not merely an institution; it is a living witness to the transformative power of faith and love. Our mission continues to shine as a beacon of hope, reminding the world that even the smallest act of genuine compassion can illuminate the darkest moments of human suffering.
